Leak · Shaky foundations · Small business IT

Small business IT setup in Waterloo Region.

Opening an office, or tired of the setup you inherited? I build the basics properly once, document everything, and hand you the keys.

Sound familiar?

What I do.

Email and accounts

Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, one company login per person, with two-step sign-in.

Laptops and phones

Set up the same way, encrypted, and wiped remotely if lost or stolen.

Wi-Fi and network

Separate guest and staff Wi-Fi, and a proper firewall.

Backups

Files copied to a backup in the office and another offsite.

Printers and screens

Shared devices set up so they just work.

Documentation

A simple guide to everything, plus the master keys in your hands.

How it works.

  1. Walk-through (day 1)Every device, account and password your business depends on, listed in one place.
  2. Email and accounts (days 2–8)Company logins for everyone, with two-step sign-in.
  3. Laptops and phones (days 9–14)Every device set up, encrypted and managed.
  4. Wi-Fi and backups (days 15–22)Guest Wi-Fi separated, firewall in, backups running onsite and offsite.
  5. Handover (days 23–30)Documentation, a training session, and every admin account transferred to you.

Common questions.

Do you come on-site?

Yes, across Waterloo Region, including Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge, and nearby areas like Guelph. Some of the work can also be done remotely.

Can you work with what we already have?

Yes. Most setups start by fixing what's there rather than replacing it. Anything that does need replacing comes with a reason and a cost before you decide.

What happens after the 30 days?

You can run it yourselves using the documentation, call me when you need help, or move on to ongoing managed security.
